The success of SofterWare’s products is due, in large part, to the skills and professionalism of our employees. We are currently seeking a Database Administrator to join our growing company. This position is largely responsible for development, support and administration of Microsoft SQL Server initiatives for the Product Development Team for all products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and performance tunes SQL queries and stored procedures to ensure optimum performance.
  • Manages database server environments in Amazon AWS, ensuring highest availability.
  • Ensures appropriate sql maintenance plans are scheduled, optimized and run.
  • Collaborates with the application development teams to produce high-performing code.
  • Consults with Architect, Systems Administrator, and Program managers in a SCRUM-based Agile development methodology to create database improvements on time and within quality standards.
  • Participates in regular effort/sprint planning, retrospectives, daily scrum and other group functions as part of Agile development process.
  • Position requires occasional after-hours work during releases other critical initiatives.
  • May contribute to other projects or products as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 5+ or more years Microsoft SQL Server experience with at least 2 years experience in a DBA capacity.
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL 2014, SQL 2016 and related query and administration tools. Comfort writing and performance optimizing SQL, including stored procedures and functions and in a high-volume database environment
  • Hands-on Experience setting up and managing high availability SQL solutions (SQL Clustering, Mirroring, Log shipping, etc)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, IIS administration, and web-server operations, automated deployment, etc
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server and Agile development approaches a plus.
  • Experience working with Amazon AWS/EC2 or RDS virtualized environment a plus.
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent in a related field.
  • Microsoft certification strongly preferred.
